State Capital CmasPizza, Swap Meet, Elections and Dues

On December 17 at 6:00, LAMALUG will have our annual Christmas Pizza Party and Swap Meet. So get your unused software and hardware out and start pricing it.

We also encourage you to bring your favorite treats or dishes to share with the rest of us. It’s not required, but we sure do like sampling each others culinary goodies. We’ll provide a few soft drinks, but you can bring your own favorites, but NO ALCOHOL.

We’ll have our usual Q&A and then LAMALUG Web dude, Dennis Pipper will give us a short tour around the beautiful website he set up for us. And our Mac Gurus will be available most of the evening.

We’ll have the door open at 6:00 if you want to get there early to set up. The pizza should arrive at about 7:15.

MEETING ROOM: Note that we’ll be meeting in our old location in room 205B on the second floor near the elevators and the cafeteria.

DUES: Because of the efforts or our treasurer, Dottie, most of our dues are due January 1. Since Dottie will be out of town in January and February, she has asked that you come to this meeting with cash or check so she doesn’t burden anybody else with the job.

ELECTIONS: December is also our annual election. If you’re interested in one of the board positions, contact Jonathan at president@lamalug.org or 694-8372 immediately.

IF YOU’RE BRINGING SWAP ITEMS: We’ll have some volunteers to help you get your stuff in if you need it. Come in the driveway on the southwest corner of the building where there are a batch of handicap parking spaces. (See the map – the driveway is marked with a “P” between buildings 10 and 17.) Here’s a picture showing what that entry looks like from the street.

If you print the PDF file, you can stick it behind your windshield wipers while you’re unloading to help prevent getting a ticket (no guarantees). You’ll still have to move your vehicle after you unload.

PARKING: Parking could be a little difficult because even though classes will be out of session, for the past couple years there has been a big event in the cafeteria.

Since our meeting room is some distance from the parking areas, you might want to take digital photos of some or your heavier items and print them out rather than haul them in. You can leave them in your car and work out the exchange once you get a buyer. (I recommend using the trunk of your car for that purpose so you don’t risk a break in.)

THE BEST PIZZA: Once again we’ll feature the best pizza in town from DeLuca’s on Willow. As we get closer to the meeting we’ll contact members for an RSVP so we’ll know how much of the various pizzas to order.

iMovieOn Thursday, September 17, Jonathan Stars will demonstrate iMovie. Everybody likes to make home movies, but most people don’t like to watch them as they drag on and on and on… We’ll look at how to edit a movie and add credits and special effects that Jonathan’s dad would have killed for. And most amazing is that iMovie comes free with your Mac computer.
