Dec 16
The annual Holiday Gathering is tonight at our normal location at Michigan State University in the CommArts Building, Room 161, at 6:30 PM. There will be Pizza House pizzas (veggie & carnivore styles!), soft drinks, and some light snacks. Bring a treat if you’d like, or bring items for the swap meet.
Board Nominations
We’re going to accept nominations for the Board of Directors tonight at the meeting. The Board positions are President, Vice President, Treasurer, Recording Secretary, and a number of at large positions. (The WebMaster and MacGuru positions are classified as at large.) There are a couple of vacant at large positions ready for a willing volunteer. Ask one of the current Board members about it at the meeting! Elections will be held in January at our normal meeting on Thursday, January 20, 2011.

Due to the road construction on Mt. Hope, driving to MSU’s campus from the East will require attendees to use Hagadorn to get to Service Drive. Take Service Drive across campus to Farm Lane. Turn North on Farm Lane (toward campus), then turn West (left) on to Trowbridge, and follow the signs posted to lead you the Communications Arts Building.

Join us this Thursday at the MSU Communication Arts Building, Room 161, for our first ever “Demo Fair.” This is where you the member get to tell the group about anything that you really like. It can be a program or widget, it can be a way of doing things or a feature that you really find useful. Or, it can be a “hack” – something useful that makes your Mac more useful to you (and probably all of us, too!).
To sign up for the Demo Fair, please go to this link and fill out the form. If you need something from us, be sure to let us know on the form. And we do need to know how to get in touch with you on Wednesday to be sure we have everything prepared.
Don’t worry if you didn’t sign up – we’ll have plenty of time for everyone to do a five minute presentation and then have another five minutes for questions from the group.
Agenda:
- 6:00 PM – Ask-A-Geek Session begins. (Sorry, no MacBasic SIG (Special Interest Group) this month – it will return in October.)
- 6:30 PM – Meeting begins with General Question and Answer
- 7:00 PM – DEMO FAIR 2010
Please join us for our afterglow following the meeting at a local restaurant to be announced at the meeting.

What to do with my new pictures?

On Thursday, August 19th, 2010, LAMALUG will be discussing what can be done with all those new pictures you just took over the summer. Our focus will be on iPhoto ’09 and what it can do. iPhoto ’09 is part of Apple’s iLife ’09 suite. Join us at our new location in the MSU Communication Arts Building on the MSU campus. (See the previous post below for directions!) John Fauver will be leading the discussion.
Agenda:
- The “Ask a Geek” session will begin at 6:00 PM where members can have a question answered by our resident geeks.
- Due to the new location, there will not be a Mac-Basics Special Interest Group meeting this month.
- At 6:30 PM the main meeting will begin with a general question-and-answer session, followed at 7:00 PM by the iPhoto presentation.
- There will be a raffle at the end of the meeting, so be sure to stick around to see what the prizes are!
- An “afterglow” will be held at a local eatery close to the meeting location immediately following the meeting.
Next Month – DEMO FAIR 2010
Sign up now to demonstrate something to the group at our first annual Demo Fair. This is your chance to present to all your friends in the group one of your own favorite programs or how you do something that others may not know. You will be given only five short minutes to present the demonstration, and another five minutes for questions. (During the Q&A the next presenter will start getting ready.) It doesn’t have to be world-shattering, just something you would like to share with the group. Just click this link (which will be here very shortly) to sign up for the Demo Fair.
