Yes, our next meeting will consist of a road trip to Farm Bureau Corporate Headquarters at 7373 W. Saginaw Hwy. Steve Paradiso will demonstrate Final Cut Pro, Apple’s professional video editing software. The software is a bit pricey, but Apple also offers Final Cut Express, a very fine product for just $199.

Security requires that we provide a list of attendees for this meeting, so you will need to RSVP to Jonathan Stars at JStars@DataDesignPros.Com

Here’s a link to a map:

6:00 Come early and take advantage of our MacGurus, where paid up members can get one-on-one help for a few minutes with knowledgeable members of our group. Your turn will be on a first-come, first-served basis.

6:30 Q & A - This is our regular session open to everybody.

RAFFLE -
You must be a paid up member to pick up your free ticket at the door. Just one more reason to be a <a href="http://www.lamalug.org/members/"title="Join today!" >member!

IMPORTANT! We’re back at our old location in room 205 B on the second floor near the elevators and the cafeteria.

MACGURUs
This is the sixth month where we feature a session we call MacGurus where paid up members can get one-on-one help for a few minutes with knowledgeable members of our group. MacGurus will start at 6:00. Your turn will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so get there early. Get organized with your question because if others are waiting, we will limit your session to 10 minutes. (You may be able to arrange an outside meeting if you need more time.) We’re limiting MacGurus to a half hour (three 10-minutes sessions) since we don’t want our gurus to miss the main meeting. And besides, we need them to answer questions during the Q & A.

6:30 Q & A - This is our regular session open to everybody.

RAFFLE -
You must be a paid up member to pick up your free ticket at the door. Just one more reason be a member!

See you Thursday!

He will cover methods of getting video into the computer, editing clips, adding titles and 3rd party software. He will also compare the feature sets of iMovie 6 with 8 so you can decide whether it might not be a good idea to upgrade or not.

Ron Ginther taught high school physics and physical science for 30 years. He actively pursues multimedia consultation, audio/visual digitizing, design and production, and speaks at conferences as well as writes magazine columns on technical subjects.

See you at the meeting!!

From the Apple web site:

iMovie ’08 makes viewing and working with video as intuitive as enjoying your photos. A built-in library automatically organizes your video, so all the clips you’ve captured and movies you’ve created are just a click away. With its revolutionary interface, iMovie makes it quick and easy to browse your library and create new movies. And iMovie is built for sharing. In just a few steps, you can add movies to your website, publish them on YouTube, and create versions for iPod, iPhone, and Apple TV.

Congratulations to Joe Byers as the winner of the iPod shuffle - generously donated by David Smith of Capitol Macintosh.

Join us this week as LAMALUG members Dottie Stark and Ron Blanchard will present Reunion, a genealogy software program.

Reunion received the highest rating for genealogy software in MacWorld, MacAddict, and Mac Home Journal magazines.

Reunion helps you to document, store, and display information about your family — your ancestors, descendants, cousins, etc. It records names, dates, places, facts, plenty of notes, sources of information, pictures, sounds, and videos. It shows family relationships in an elegant, graphic form — people and families are linked in an easy-to-understand fashion.

Reunion makes it easy to publish your family tree information — even if you want to share it on the Web. You can automatically create common genealogy reports, charts, and forms, as well as birthday calendars, mailing lists, questionnaires, indexes, and other lists. Reunion even calculates relationships, ages, life expectancies, and statistics.

Reunion also creates large, high-resolution, graphic charts allowing complete on-screen editing of boxes, lines, fonts, and colors. Wall charts are one of its specialties. For more information, visit the Reunion web site.
